What does this sound mean?

Mine sometimes do this, too. Not crowding in the coop, their old one was too small and they just moved to a new one, but sometimes one will come out singing and they would all sit on top of their old coop and sing and sing. I knew it was loud, but I was blocks away and heard chickens and they were mine! Only, sometimes they’re lying, I check after the song and no egg. Silly birds.

Ah. I hope that's it. I am just concerned for there safety. The hen doing it is the lowest on the pecking order and the quietest, BUT she is the only to lay eggs so far.

So maybe territorial on the nesting boxes? I wondered if it was the fake eggs that are in there, but they have been there awhile.

That sounds like an egg song to me! Perfectly normal... well as "normal" as chicken behavior gets! Some hens sing before the lay, some sing while they're laying, and some sing as soon as they leave the nest after they lay, it all depends on the girl! My roos used to come and join in with their 2 favorite hens, but interestingly enough, not with the other hens. If she is a young girl, it may be that she hadn't sung her egg song yet just because of her age. If your other hens are joining in they are probably close to the point of lay. Also, laying an egg is a lot of work! It's nice for them to have a cheering squad!

But nobody laid an egg. The hen making the noise is the only one who has started laying so far, though (they are young). But she didn't lay today. The other days she laid, there was no egg song. And the rooster was doing it too?

I don't know what to do for them.

It's not an exact art. I have cought several of my hen singing the egg song and those hens didn't even lay, it was another hen. Also, many times my rooster gets in on the act as well. It is a song they could make when spooked as well, but with your live feed you can see nothing is in the coop.

They look fine and healthy to me, and probably bored. My 4 Easter Eggers are literally at my basement door, so if I open the door (or even pull back the curtains to peek outside) they'll run up their ramp to the "porch" of their house so they're about waist-level with me and do that growling noise. If I then walk past them out into the yard without stopping, they start with the loud yelling. It's different from the egg song, more of a "Hey, you just walked past me without talking to me!! Come back here!" I think they just like to talk, and with yours just now starting to lay, this may indeed be a lamaze class.

It looks like they quieted down when you got there to readjust the camera, then started right back up. I used to give mine treats to shut them up, but then was afraid they were playing me and/or training me to give them treats when they got loud, so I stopped that. Good luck with them.

Yep! You have an egg symphony going on!! Like 8 chicks said, it's not an exact art... hens are super vocal. They sing for lots of reasons... and sometimes for no reason at all! I've had plenty of "false songs" also, where I checked the nesting box after a hen popped out of it singing, but, since I don't speak chicken, I didn't realize that the song she was singing was "Sorry for taking up the good nesting box ladies, False alarm!"
