What drill or tool for rotary plucker?

I have a few different power and cordless drills, in normal 1/2 inch and SDSplus fittings. So will find something that will work. Don't like the pulley driven system that uses a bench grinder as if a finger gets caught - will injure.

I've ordered the plucker fingers - but postage to me I South Africa will take a month. But hopefully all ready before I need to slaughter in 5 weeks

Where do you find plucker fingers? Kinda new. I've done meat birds in the past, but always hand plucked. I've wanted to build a plucker.

First post, be gentle. Lol

You can find them online at different places, there are different brands most feel the Kent fingers are the best. Just do a Google search and see if you can find a pack in the quantity you need

I managed to find all the parts I needed off eBay - as I'm in South Africa they were the only place that would post here. Amazon did have, and actually had a 15% sale on them.

Can you post some pictures and possibly a parts list? I've seen this done, but not in enough detail to figure it out. (And... you still have the electricity + water problem, how do you shield the motor?)

I will probably murder a poor defenseless drill for this go-round, but I bet after that we'll put together something better.

Thanks!

Ok, parts finally arrived (pillow bearings & drill shank) from eBay, so managed to put together my drill based plucker. Used it for 6 birds this weekend - amazing! Takes like 50seconds per bird. Im using a powered drill (instead of cordless), and that has a speed limiter built in as you dont want the plucker to go too fast.

Next Ill rig up some sort of waterproof switch to turn it on and off.
