What Electric Fence to get for Chicken Tractor (Movable Coop)?

Listen to MSIT....this guy knows what he's talking about.

You can use the portable ground rod system like he discussed and should be fine. The insulation on the ground wire is not necessary unless you decide to touch it and the fence at the same time. You'll only do that once!

I just used some of the same insulated wire for the hot side on the grounds since it came in a long roll.

I have a question. I just bought electric fence hoping it would keep chickens and our dogs in yard. I have a gallagher 60 acre charger not because I thought the 30 acre zaberra wasntworking right. The dogs have gotten zapped and don't want anything to do with it. The chickens walk right through it. I ran three wires one about 3 inches next up 4 more and then the third hits about knee level. After some time I got brave enough to touch and nothing happens to me unless I have a hold of the post or I'm on my knees. One ground rod in wet soil. Charger says I is fine and not grounded out. My friend I work with his will zap ya no matter what you do. Is there anything wrong with mine or is that normal. Also how to keep chickens from walking through middle and bottom wire. Doesn't faze them one bit. Any help would be appriciated.

If youre not getting shocked when you touch the just the fence, but do get shocked when you also touch the post, it could be your shoes are insulating you very well. Or your ground system is lacking

Put one hand on the ground and try the fence

I've seen a LOT of misinformation in some of these posts.
Go to most any fencing manufacturers sites and RESEARCH the correct way to install electric fence for yourself
If you take some of the advice given here, you'll be sorry
