What else can happen to these eggs! They didn't make it.

you gotta stay up! i don't know about this incubation thing...someone has to give me direction!

Do you have a still air incubator? The temp can be a little higher in them sometimes with out drastic results. Don't give up yet. Just keep an eye on them and candle again in a few days.

I have 2 still air incubators. My hovabator is filled with Delaware and Delahorn (Delaware/Leghorn) eggs I got from csibb. That bator is doing fine...all eggs are safe in that one.

The 'bator that had the temp spike is an old Brower with BLRW and Welsummer eggs in it.

The temp spike WAS NOT a defect with the bator...it was operator error! When I removed the lid at the last turning of the eggs, the temp dial was not "locked" and it got turned to the "warmer" setting. So this was all of my fault, I should've been more careful.

Needless to say, the temp dial is now locked and taped into position so it can't be adjusted without some extreme effort.

I'm gonna sit back and hope for the best. If I can get a couple of each breed to hatch I'll be amazed and happy!

Well, as it turns out, I lost all 7 of my BLRW eggs.

As for the Welsummer eggs, 7 of them were definitely toasted right from the get go, so that put me down to 7 left of those.

I candled tonight, and of the 7 remaining ones, 2 of them I could actually see development and movement!

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they make it through hatch.

I'm still sooooo upset about the BLRW eggs, though. I really, really, really wanted to hatch a few of those. I don't think I can wait until spring to hatch more eggs.

I candled my 2 Welsummer eggs on Friday night and they were still developing.

Tomorrow night they go into the hatcher. I candled them again tonight but couldn't see anything...just a big black mass underneath the air cell. I couldn't even see any movement.

I've only got these 2 eggs incubating/hatching right now, so I don't think I'm going to even bother candling tomorrow night. I'm just going to put them in the hatcher and pray, pray, pray!

Thanks JanieMarie. Well, I kind of think that maybe these eggs just aren't supposed to hatch....today we had a power outage! The 'bator was only off for an hour, so maybe they'll be ok. If these 2 do hatch, they could possibly be the luckiest chicks in the world!

aaaaghhhh....i take ONE nap and the hatching world goes to heck!

sorry about the power outage! you can blame me if you want!

hope it's all going to be okay!
