I would be hesitant to put him in the chicken coop. Kids tend to nibble things and could get sick if he ingests chicken poop. Also, goats shouldn't get chicken feed. If he gets into the chicken feed, he could get bloat or worse. See if you can come up with another solution.

Well, in that case he'd have to go into the stall next door. I'm trying to find someone to get the ewe lambs from before I adopt this buckling....so i can be sure, if I do get only him, that he will have some ovine company in a month or so.

I'm going to get him in 4 weeks or so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably another goat or some hair sheep too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure about bonding with sheep since I haven't had any, but I've heard of people that got a single goat and turned out to be destructive because the sheep weren't his idea of fun.

Also! Be very careful feeding the sheep and the goat, since copper is toxic for sheep, and goats require it. If you buy food for "sheep and goats" it won't have any copper in it, and your goaty boy might get sick. If you can give him minerals/his own goat food separate from the sheep feed, that would be ideal.

My goats are living with chickens, ducks, and geese. The only thing I have to do differently is not leave any feed out free-choice (boo). I have to leash my two does and feed the chickens and them separate out of bowls so nobody eats what they shouldn't. It works so far, but the chickens aren't in as good of shape as I'd like them to be because they only get fed twice a day.

Well I may have to get another goat if it doesn't work out. I am aware of the copper issue also...thanks everyone! I'll keep you posted!
