What essentials do you need besides an incubator

What are some good items to have on hand? And what brands are good?
Also I am wanting to hatch silkies, any good sellers on ebay that have them?

Thanks,
Cheryl
Make sure you buy several calibrated thermometers and hydrometers. Are you asking about incubator brands? I'm not sure on silkie sellers, but you can check your state breeders and put an ISO in the BST forum on here.

I have a Brinsea incubator. What is the BST forum?
And thanks, maybe brinsea has calibrated thermometers, haven't looked there, I bought the incubator on Walmart.
I bought 2 nice little thermometers from avian web, they're small and work really well. Make sure you calibrate them though, put your thermometer ina sealed sandwhich bag and submerge it in ice water (mostly crushed ice and a tiny bit of water) until the temp reads 32 Fahrenheit. If it doesn't, you'll have to know it's a few degrees off.

I’ve never needed a thermometer with my Brinsea. Set it at 37.5 and away it goes. Perfect hatches every time. I just hatched 18 of the 24 shipped eggs I bought through the mail. Awesome incubator.
Have you ever checked it with a calibrated thermometer though? It's pretty rare that they're spot on. It happens, but it's always important to have a thermometer in anyway, just to be sure.
