What essentials do you need besides an incubator

Your right though I should check before my next hatch. Where do we get a calibrated thermometer?

You can order one from amazon or walmart. I have a nice little one from amazon and a nice little one I found at Wal-Mart. Any small thermometer will do. Then you have to calibrate it yourself. You just fill a mug with crushed ice (about 3 quarters full) and then put in some really cold water. Just a small bit of water. Then put your thermometer in a sandwhich bag, squeeze all the air out, and submerge it in the glass. Then I like to put some more crushed ice on top of it. Leave it and come back in half an hour. It should read 32 Fahrenheit. If it does, that's perfect. If it doesn't read 32 do the ice bath again. You might not be doing it right. If it still doesn't read 32, just factor in the fact that it's x number of degrees off.

I use my phone flashlight, it's pretty powerful and I've never had a problem. Plus, I already bought the phone. Lol
