What flooring should we use in the run?

i have two 7 week old chickens that i would like to move outside into a coop this weekend. These are my first chickens EVER so ive been doing a lot of reading on this topic

. my dad and i have been building a coop+run this week. the coop will be 2x2x4, the nesting boxes will be 1x1x1, and there will be 2, and the run will be 4x4x8 feet. the coop is in the run like a lot of the pics ive found online(ill post pics when im done

). i want to put hay in the nesting boxes, pine wood shavings in the coop, but the floor of the run is cement. that is the only place that i can put it.

will that be ok for them or should i put down dirt or sand?

Cement is good! You can add some shavings, and make sure that water will drain away, not pool on the floor. Hope you have bantams, as the whole thing seems really small. Mary

Thats good to here, i have leghorns, but only 2 and after they get used to there run, i will let them out into the yard. i dont have a lot of yard space so this was as big as i could go
