I usually feed chicks chick crumbs but I have ran out of it and can only get some more tomorrow evening. What can I feed them in the mean time? Some of the chicks are a month old and the other on is a week old. Thanks.

Hello,

Based on their needs I would wait until morning to feed them. Chicks can have problem digesting some foods as they can't properly break down the food/feed. With this said, you can try to slice a SOFT tomato into quarter chunks for them to each. This extremely soft food should be easy enough for them to handle...

If you do feed attempt this suggestion I would strongly suggest you monitor them very closely while they eat and shortly afterwards. You will want to make sure they are acting right throughout the process.

P.S. it is strongly important you get the correct chick feed as soon as possible...

One of the best things to feed young chicks is crumbled hard boiled egg. It is easily digested and is packed with protein and vitamins . Obviously they should not be fed SOLEY hard boiled eggs, especially since they spoil quickly so after an hour or so in the chick pen or coop and it must be removed. There is NEVER any leftover anyway LOL

Give treats to chicks in moderation, and give them a steady diet for chicks. However, a bit of banana never does much harm! A favorite!
