In the past, I have been advised to avoid certain foods for certain pets. Avocado, for example, is often cited and I would like to know if there is anything to avoid giving my chooks?

Great big hugs for you today - you've gone above and beyond!

Thanks for all of the help.

I avoid two things (for the chickens!), salt and onions. They've never had chocolate either.

DH knows better than to ask where the leftovers have gone. If it's not eaten that day, the chickens get it.

Wow, that was really really interesting. Thank you so much for posting the link.

I confess I have occasionally given them bread with a little mold on it. Hmmm.

Why only seedless grapes? Does anyone know?

And here is my biggie question: Why should you not feed citrus? My daughter has been bringing the leftovers from her juicer, and they really really love this. It would mainly be from orange juice, but some other things also. It never occurred to me that I shouldn't feed them.

I have offered them banana peels but they turned up their beaks at them.

Recently I got some mealworms from Sillybird and at first they eyed them dubiously and thought, "Hmmm. She is trying to poison us."

Then one picked one up and dropped it several times, and then ate it, and then the rest started, and those worms were gone lickety split.

And the PEAFOWL! WOW! Did they love those mealworms. I am thinking of raising some myself.
