Yesterday I was watching my cockerel (George) with his girls.
George is about 7 months old, and has only recently started to do 'the dance' before mating.
I have seen other roosters do 'the dance' before - a graceful wing drop, then a slow tantalising circle around the hen.
So I had to laugh out loud when I watched George's first attempt.
He rushed, stamping, in a sideways crab walk towards his chosen girl, dropped both his right wing AND HIS HEAD almost to the ground, then did two very fast circles around her like he was an aeroplane!
At the end of this visual feast, he fell over in front of her - he must have been dizzy!
Needless to say, the chicken looked at him and I could almost hear her thinking "Hell, No!"
I have not laughed so hard in a long time.
So what funny things do your chickens do?
