Our laying hens are about 2 1/2 months old. They’d never seen corn in the cob before. When I put one on the run for them, most ignored it. But one hen stood there, staring at the cob. Not moving an inch, staring in complete ignorance at the cob for at least a full minute. Finally, when one of the others came up and pecked at the cob, the bewildered one joined in. Then they all decided it was good to eat, and they devoured it! It’s difficult to explain but I laughed so hard at the blank expression on her face as she just stood there, not moving at all for so long! It was as if she had no clue what the cob was, and didn’t know what to do with it. I guess I thought she looked so dumb!
