I have two 4 week old silkies that are very different in behavior, looks, and friendliness. I am almost certain they are opposite genders, but can't tell which is a boy and which is a girl.
The white one has been bigger ever since got her. he/she has long pin feathers and got her comb skin on her beak first. She/he is a lot friendlier and more active than the other one.
the buff one is smaller, had smaller pin feathers when we first got her/him. he/she does not stand too tall and a lot more skittish.
When we first got them we assumed the white on was older, but the buff one has started to grow back feathers before the white one leading us to believe they are different genders. Also, the start of the buffs comb has a yellow tint to it do any of you know what that's about?
Our two silkie chicks are so sweet but are always fighting, trying to see who taller and squawking. They are in a decently sized brooder and have plenty of food and water. We raised the 3 female buff Orpington chicks previously and they had never fought each other. Is it possible they are fighting more because one is a roo? or maybe it has something to do with only having two chicks, I don't know. Any information helps
Thanks, Ellie
