I hatched some chicks from my hens' eggs a while ago. I was hoping for a roo in the clutch because my roo died recently. One of my chicks' comb and wattle is very large, but it doesn't crow at all, but it tries to take on the bigger chick. Could someone help and tell me what gender my chicks are? The first picture is of my 2 month old Bantam Cochin (I think its a girl), the second is also a 2 month old Bantam Cochin (Is he a roo?). Are their combs supposed to be that big, or small already? People say they look like Barred Rocks, but they're Bantam Cochins. Their father was a very light colored barred Bantam Cochin. The mother was a Golden Laced Bantam Cochin. (The one in the lower picture is a runt, he has always been tiny; he/she came from a tiny egg).

Okay, I know for sure now. I was showing my little roo to the neighborhood adults (humans), and he crowed for all of us! It was his first time, at 8 weeks, my baby is an adorable little cockerel!
