Hello,
Last year we got our 1st chickens ever, 2 EE'S and 2 RIR.
This year we decided to expand our flock with some different breeds and are unfamiliar with their development progress. They are aprox. 16 -17 was old and they keep flying over the fence into the older birds run. Two have gotten beat up by our roo (1 cuckoo Maran & 1 buff orp.) Can anyone tell me what the gender of our birds are? I'm hoping to integrate them once they reach full size. We have 2 BO, 2 CM, 1 RIR and 1 Leghorn. Thanks!

By sixteen weeks, male saddle feathers would be really obvious. Those are all pullets. By the look of those first two, you should start getting eggs in a few more weeks.

You just made my day!! Of the 2 EE'S last year we ended up w/a roo and he's ridin' my RIR hard. She barely has any feathers left on her back! Do you know if they make saddles or some sort of protection for hens?
