Does anyone know what gender my little barred wyandotte is? Pictures are 3 days old and 2.5 weeks old. It has black wash on its legs right down to its feet but the yellow on its head is more of a smudge than a defined dot. It was very dark black when it first hatched. Also does anyone know what sort my grey one is? It was a lucky dip hatch of wyandottes, maybe a blue?

Pullets have a darker pattern than cockerels. Males inherit two barring genes and females only one. So they appear darker in pattern. 2.5 weeks is still fairly young to say for 100% sure but it looks like a pullet so far.

Oh ok thanks. I read something about the yellow marking on their heads too but I don't know if it applies. Fingers crossed for a pullet anyway.

They are bantams. Any idea what the grey one is? It's meant to be a wyandotte bantam. I've also got 3 sliver laced wyandotte bantams, they are 7.5 weeks old, i think one is a cockrell. I've got some gold laced wyandottes in the incubator.
