I have had this chick for about 11 weeks now, and when I first got her, They said that they only had females in the bin. When we brought her and another chick home, I wanted to introduce them slowly to my two older chicks, which were four weeks older. Yang (the chick in question) had this "special" way with the older chicks. She didn't get picked on as much and would do these weird staring contests with the "Queen" chick (the most dominant one). I always noticed that when Yang ate, she would make noises, chirping and squeaking every time she took a bite. She's slightly bigger than the chick that we got with her. Another thing that is making me doubt that she's even female is that we started to hear crowing about three mornings ago and she only does it in the morning, and it's not very loud either. I did some research and found out that hens can crow if it's an all-female flock, but I also read that cockerels don't start crowing until they're five months old or even older. So, do I have a young pullet who is trying to go up in ranks? Or do I have a young cockerel? Here are some pictures to help.
