This is my red Cochin bantam It is around six months old can any one tell me the gender?

Okay thanks i agree it looks more like a pullet but has more of a rooster attitude isn't she kind of late to be laying eggs?
 
True, many birds begin laying by the time they are 5-6 months old. However, that is only the average. Breeds that weren't really bred for egg production (like bantam Cochins) often mature slower, and therefore lay later than other, more productive breeds.

Not neccesarily. Many breeds take 5-7 months before beginning to lay, with the birds bred for egg production (like Leghorns and Sex-Links) being on the early end. Birds like Cochins and other fancier breeds of chicken often take a little longer.
