What gender?

This one has me confused. It is 17 weeks old, chubby, very docile, loves to cuddle and hasn't attempted to crow. But, it has well defined waddle, comb and the saddle feathers are pointed.

Is it really a rooster?

It also has thick fatty areas behind its elbows. Why would that be?

Yup, that's definitely a roo. Do you already have a rooster? If so, this one is probably lower in the pecking order, so he's trying to keep a low profile by not crowing.

Don't know about the fatty areas, other than that is one chubby chicken!
