what got my chicken?

Walked away from my flock for 20 or so minutes and came back to a pile of feathers. Wondering what got my chicken. No blood, no corpse, just feathers and just marks in the ground. On twelve acres in rural SE Texas. There are dogs, cats, fox, possum, coon, hawks, snakes, etc..

Every hawk video I've seen shows them standing around and chowing down.

Probably around 5-6.

Probably a large hawk or eagle. Most hawks are too small to carry a full grown barred rock. Texas is home to a few of the ones large enough to manage it, though.

Was sorry to lose the coop queen but on a side note, the other chickens seemed much more at peace and the place was considerably quieter. Our EEs came out of hiding, lol.
