my male guinea i got last year died yesterday. i have no idea what happened. i was cleaning the coop bc i got 5 new hens yesterday and i heard flapping. then i went outside to investigate and i found my male guinea laying under my peacock cage with blood comming out of his mouth and eyes. what the heck could have happened. could he have gotton attacked. i would have though so bc hes very vigilant about predators around him. anyway any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
thanks.

is it possible he got his head caught in the cage? Maybe the flapping was him trying to pull his head out and he injured himself doing that.

I've had racoons get some of my birds and they just kind of go for the throat and kill them, don't eat them. I just had a skunk invasion and those chickens had injuries only to their heads and faces, no where else. It was actually hard to find injuries on some of them at all, but I knew it was a skunk because of the smell and the chickens did retaliate and killed the mother skunks baby!

but it was in daylite. about 5:30. i was cleaning the coop. !!!!

i mean he was mean to the roosters and chickens and i didnt like that he did that but once he died im trying to hold back tears. i really am sad.

I was referring to the peacock cage, could he have stuck his head in the cage? Was there a peacock in there that could have grabbed him? I had a hen grab one of my other hens through a crate once, I was surprised she could do it but she got her beak in enough to grab the other hen.

That was my first thought, too. Could the Peacock have grabbed him through the bars and held on? You would have heard a lot of flapping if that had happened, too! Was it just blood, or did you look to see if there were any injuries there?

So sorry for your loss,

Shelly
