So I collected from a paddock horse and a bit of cow, but mostly horsie, into some bags.

Popped it into pots. Onions seem to be doing ok. Onions like in their second year, can cut off bits to add to cooking and the rest keeps growing.

Tomatoes are like not so good, foot high seedlings dont like being in it and turn yellow green and try to put out their last fruit and I moved them to ordinary soil, or at least one or two so far.

BUT WHAT GROWS in horsie POO ok ? and doesnt up and die besides onions. Yeah yeah I know fresh is not best as a rule, not needing the next one hundred replies to be quoting the rule, just looking for exceptions to the rule. what grows OK.

NO QUOTING THE RULE IN YOUR MESSAGE OR I KNOW YOUR NOT READING MINE, and you're looking pretty stupid if you do because there is like I said it three times.

I had to go read about the rule, talks of "burning the roots" which is usually associated with too much nitrogen.

So legumes and any other nitrogen fixing plant, which creates it's own nitrogen are out.

The other side of that spectrum would likely be best.

Things like salad greens with large broad leaves that can grow fast and use mostly nitrogen would probably work.

ooooo, this is interesting research.. cool. I'm thinking bok choi. No idea how it tastes, but that and far too much spinach. Who eats spinach, YUK, but I grow it and grudingly eat it sometimes before giving up and it keeps growing and after the third year I'm like "I'm still not going to bother eating you, but meh go on growing I dont care to pull you out." Maybe some stranger will arrive in the garden needing something for the kitchen and just LOVE the spinach. Then I just know some spinach will go with Oliveoil, because that's what popeye eats so shes definitely going to take some with her.

We grow asparagus.

WoW!!! that is AWESOME.

although not for me, I hate asparagus, YUK, but it's awesome for assorted readers and hey if I see it in a packet I might give it a go, what is there to lose ? grow everything possible and something has to work out. Plus maybe I could almost pretend to like or somehow fool myself into thinking I like it cause I grew it. Or I could AT LEAST badmouth gardening in general to my friends by complaining that asparagus is the only darn thing I can get to grow, that'd work. Hmm, yep I can definitely imagine that just swell.

We grow asparagus.

I planted some last year and began thinking it was (Wal-Mart) really asparagus fern, since I couldn't find where the Asparagus was supposed to be. This year I found some around the tips, but then it for cold blah....

What gives?

I been doing asparagus in the toaster oven with olive oil salt and pepper and it is amazing!
Then take the oil and season mix amd pour it on a baked potato! Mmmm

Asparagus isn’t for me either but I am giving it a try this year and when it’s time to pick it I will roast it in butter. :drool

We also use it as fertilizer for our tomatoes. It works really well for many different fruits and vegetables. But you don’t want to use just the horse poo.
