What Guns Do You Keep On Hand?

I think it is legal, although there is some sort of law where you can't shoot near other people's dwellings, but it is very vague.
I think they were shooting at rabbits, birds, maybe foxes. (And I am very grateful for the people that shoot foxes)

I guess what I worry about is how capable they are, and if there is a risk of a stray bullet coming our way.
But like I said, they haven't done it for a while, so hopefully won't again.
I was just wondering if its ok to ask them to move off, or do shooters find that very annoying.

If it's legal where you live then yeah, they're gonna find it very annoying if you tell them to stop because you don't like it. You could make friends with them and ask them not to do it if you have something like a backyard party planned, etc but since you've already yelled across the ways at them...might not go over well.

Become friends with them and have a beer. The crazy guy with guns next door is likely the one to help you or save your life if things go wrong. They would probably love it if you came over and shot with them even. Or they are overly excited to fix your predator problem like it was one of their own!

Yeah, I would like that to happen, but I don't think it will.
I think I am the most open minded of the family, (it wasn't me who shouted over at them) but also the youngest, so what the others think goes.
Thats why I wanted a bit of perspective from others, rather than what I've been brought up to think.
Anyway, I think I'll leave it at that, as I don't want to derail the thread.

I keep a well rounded arsenal but I'm gonna tell you I've verified with security footage, a few large barn cats are the number 1 chicken defensive measure. I once saw a cat perch on top of a gazebo, wait for a red tail to swoop in (had done it a couple times that day and I was about to commit a war crime) , and this cat pounced on said hawk, brought it to the ground and battled for about 30 seconds before the hawk took off (minus some feathers) I never saw that attempted again

Canadian here,
i just set traps and then dispatch when needed, no need to carry a gun around where i live for predators.

on the other hand my land up north (where i have bees) has no shortage of predators, from bears to wolves to cougars. so i have a short barreled shotgun with slugs when out working with them.

our laws allow us to have manual action guns as long as there 26 inches over all length (semi auto has to be 18.5 inch barrel) so my bear/bee shotgun i got has about a 14 inch barrel with a full length stock, wish they had the 8.5 inch barrel in stock haha.

So the question for us folks that live more rural is what guns you keep on hand to thwart potential predators?

Me? I keep a cheap but accurate 22lr on standby and a 12g shotgun with slugs when our birds are free ranging. And of course I always have my EDC on my hip.

We get everything from feral cats to bears and everything in between around here. Although the only thing I've personally seen on our property was a bobcat that our dog almost got into a tangle with.

The dog is the deterrent/ first line of defense, I'm the final say.

So, what arms do you folks in various areas of the country keep on hand for predators?

I do not do guns. I am not against them, but I cannot use them with any kind of accuracy or swiftness to have them be useful. I, personally, choose to use a recurve bow. Our dog is blind, elderly, and a wimp. I and I alone am the first and final line of defense. I have stepped between bears, coyotes, foxes, and even deer (my chickens are terrified of deer, but will not make a peep against bears ) and my flock. Terrifying, but less so when I have the bow and know that I am swift and accurate with it.

also depends what there shooting, where i live, we have hunter harassment laws, its illegal to interfere in a lawful hunt.
