So I had two clutches due to hatch today and yesterday and nothing happened. So far this year I've been averaging 50-60% hatch rate so this is way unusual. The temp and humidity were stable through out incubation and everything seemed well, they were all candled prior to lock down and had developed as well as previous clutches before them.
The only thing that went wrong was last week I couldn't be home and asked my brother to turn them however I didn't explain very well to him what to do and he flipped them instead so the pointy end was up. They were like this for 12hr or a little more. Could this have killed the chicks in some way?

probably in some way, yes. turning them that way disorientates them so their head is away from the air cell. maybe a lot of them drowned. this is risky, but you can take one egg out and place it on a flat hard surface and if it moves, it might be okay, but they could die... yeah, i hate it when i have to leave and someone other than myself turns the eggs

one time i told my mom to do it but she was like "oh, i think turning them will hurt them!! i didnt do it" and i was like "REALLY??
