what happened?? Day 26

So 26 days ago I put 13 eggs into by bator, 1 pipped at day 19, success i thought? It hatched, but I managed to kill it by not taking it out of the bator in time, it died

i have learned from that mistake.

So I waited on the others hoping that they were late starters...well it is now day 26 and decided to open the eggs,

I had two beautiful chicks that looked fully formed, but still had a lot of yolk in the sac....they were lovely.

Why didn't they deveolp and hatch? Any ideas, or does that just happen?

The others just didn't develop, not fertilized?

thanks guys, have soime goose eggs and cochins to hatch this weekend... any tips would be great..

there are always a number of reasons eggs don't hatch - I'm not an expert for sure but if the chicks develop on the wrong side of the air sac, they can die without pipping. Also, the temperature could be too low or too high causing slow or fast development. The humidity could be wrong (not high enough day 18-21) to cause the membrane to get tough and they can't pip through the membrane.

Lots of reasons - hard to know why without more information.
