My hens seem to have either killed or helped eat a bird. Or maybe it was killed by a hawk? The hens had to be close by and probably witnessed it. There were white feathers everywhere, some with blood and meat attached.

Has anyone ever had this happen? All hens are accounted for and safe.

I wonder what kind of bird it was, any ideas?

Thanks! me too! i am a little scared for tomorrow and the next day, and the next day - ya know? I have had a sense of complacency. not anymore!

If possible I would keep them locked up or at least in the run when I couldn't be w/ them --at least for a few days..

Hard to tell from the photo, but based on what look like white and grey feathers, I would guess a cat or fox ate a pigeon.

hmm, I wish I knew what really happened. Either way, not one part of the bird was left (besides feathers). I don't think it was a fox, if he were around, I do believe there would have been a much bigger problem. my hens are free range and would make easy targets. A cat or hawk, maybe.
