We have 10 - 2 1/2 week old chicks. Of the 10 4 have been very friendly, another 2 or 3 warm up to you...and the 3 leghorns forget about it. (but that was expected...although their personalities are starting to get annoying)

Tonight after getting home from work we (me and my 5yr old and 2 yr old) went down to hang out with the chicks.

As soon as the netting came off the brooder they went absolutely crazy! Flying, running, jumping, bouncing off walls etc etc. They wouldnt stop. They had never done this before. We even had taken down our very first treats for them. Grapes. They wanted NOTHING to do with us or the grapes.

I am very confused and frustrated. My 5 yr old has been doing great holding them and getting them used to us. I am hoping this is sort of a stage they go through...like teenagers mayble...but I am very frustrated.

Separate the leghorns from them. I've noticed that when one chick goes crazy the rest will follow suit, because they're chickens and flock animals. It's natural and it's annoying, very annoying...

Just as ChicknGurl stated, take the leghorns out. They tend to be mean buggers. Sorry.

My nephews White Leghorns are terrible! Once you get those stinkers out of there, the rest should settle down. Just don't forget to put them back once you are finished with the others!

You also need to make sure that they don't get chilled while out of the brooder. Good luck with it!!!
