What happened to the glass thermometers that actually work?

I'm "confused" .... Ok the Janoel 12 I have just has temp reading which has been right on but no humidity. It does have an alarm setting for humidity.

I put the mercury thermometer in the incubator, temp 100 & humidity 35 - 38%. Incubator was at factory setting 38C/100.4*

I calibrated the hygrometer as learned here, salt slurry in a ziplock bag for 6hrs ... Hygrometer temp read 77* humidity was 71% (I'm in HI). I added it to my incubator with a mercury thermometer that also read humidity (temp 100 humidity 35 - 38%).

Maybe I didn't wait long enough but in a couple of hours, the Mercury was reading the same but the Hygrometer said 102.9* humidity 25% ? I'm thinking the Mercury is more likely correct, maybe the Hygro needs more time to stabilize as it takes 6hrs for testing?

I would also trust the mercury over the digital
Analog would be better than digital IMO
Because you need the basic constant reading
Where the digital will change when the heater cycles on and off

After reading the wonderfully detailed instructions
How could you not be confused lol
On one of the utube instructions they said HU was for setting humidity
But most of the videos on utube are from people that don't have any experience or knowledge about what there talking about
Most other incubators adjust humidity by water surface area
HU = Heating power parameter (whatever that means)
I didn't know it had a humidity alarm
I didn't check the calibration but the one I put in is reading 61%

ronzxcvb Totally agree but think I may have found the "problem", it probably didn't leave the Hygrometer in "long" enough. Trying again but I'm with you, I trust the analog one, digital is to iffy & humidity affects battery operations IMO.

Ha ha, those instructions are SO CONFUSING! No clue what HU = Heating power parameter is all about, haven't messed with anything except the Temp which is very consistent. The humidity alarm sounds great but I'm not bothering with it either.

Going to run it for a few days to see if the digital ever agrees with the analog. I'm running dry (35 - 38%) cause it's humid here but know when the eggs go in, it's going to change & at lockdown need to increase the humidity (70 - 75%) which I haven't figured out how much water to add just yet. Thinking a sponge or container of water instead of putting directly into the incubator.

It's a good thing I don't have eggs to hatch, I wanted to get this I learn it before I ever looked into getting any. I'm an over thinker :)
