My muscovy duck has been setting for a while. Day 35 (muscovy take 32-35 days) was Friday but its been cold and maybe my first day was off. Yesterday I checked and at least 1 egg was hatching. Ducks can take up to 48 hours to emerge. I don't mess with them when they brood. I don't even candle. This morning, I saw what I thought was a discarded egg shell and took it out. This is what it was.
It looks like a squashed hard cooked egg. How was this possible? It smelled a little but not much. This was not at all what I had been expecting.
