LOL! I was considering that myself (not really). My girl is a year old and has never laid an egg.
She FINALLY began to earn her keep this week when I got 12 eggs shipped to me in the mail, but my bator only holds 7 eggs! As luck would have it, she went broody a few days before the eggs arrived!

Are your silkies on grass? I have mine on sand runs, and I was hardly getting any eggs from the girls. Once I started picking a couple handfulls of grass each day, I started getting overloaded with eggs.
