I dont have my chicks yet but I know that I will be holding and petting and spoiling them lots. We are out in the yard a lot during the summer and we will let them free range at that time. So I imagine they will be used to seeing us a lot. What happens when it gets cold out and we aren't outside very much? I'm probably projecting too much human emotion on them but, would they miss us?

I would hate to make them really people friendly and then in 6 months we are no where to be found (besides cleaning/feeding/etc) for awhile.

They don't seem to mind , they have each other for company and mine refuse to touch snow so I shovel an area and they will come out no matter how cold it gets (upstate NY) and you will find yourself going out there more than you think because their water freezes up and all that FUN stuff....it was a Longggg winter and mine are thrilled to be back out all day long.

They will miss you until you arrive with the food, then it is back to the stink eye for you.

Everything will be just fine. They won't hold it against you, I swear.

Mine get a warm mash of oatmeal, birdseed and any leftovers I can fine. They love it.
