What hatchery are the best?

My husband and I are moving to Missouri in a couple months and I will have to start over with new chickens :/ we are gonna order chickens but I'm not sure what breed is good with the cold and heat? I also want a good hatchery to order from please help

We ordered from Meyer Hatchery. They have great customer service and a large supply of chicks and chick feeders and waterers. They'll vaccinate for you and there is only a 3 chick minimum.

I had a really good experience with Cackle Hatchery. A lot of people love Murray McMurray, but I was really disappointed with the birds I got from them and their customer service, communication, and shipping.

Good luck in making your choice. If you're just looking for pets to give you some eggs, most hatcheries will be more than able to set you up.

Cackle Hatchery is right there in MO. If you aren't picky they have a Cackle Surprise, 40-50 birds (usually about 50 or a little more) for $60.95, shipped. I've gotten 3 of them this year. Lots of variety, and not all roosters (very few in mine).

Ideal is also very good, I've ordered from them many times this year. They have weekly specials that are unbeatable.

I have never ordered from Murry, but like 5 different local people who did told me they won't be ordering from them again.

I've ordered from four hatcheries over the years, Dunlap Hatchery in Idaho , Murray McMurray Hatchery in Iowa, Ideal Poultry in Texas, and Cackle Hatchery in Missouri, and have been satisfied with all of them. I like Dunlap Hatchery the best. They are smaller than the other three, but their service and birds have always been very good, and the folks at Dunlap are very friendly and helpful. Furthermore, I've never lost a single chick in shipping from Dunlap (I can't say that about any of the other 3). The only thing is, you might prefer ordering from Cackle since they are in Missouri and the boxed chicks will have less distance to travel than from the other hatcheries. Which ever hatchery you decide to order from, good luck in getting your chicks.
