So I have a pretty small Silkie that just went broody today. I plan on giving her a couple days to be sure that she’s gonna stay that way and then I want to purchase some hatching eggs. I only have Polish and Silkie chickens and I really want to try something new! I’ve considered seramas, guineas, or pheasants, though I’ve never owned any of these breeds before. I have successfully had a hen hatch a couple peachicks though. Any suggestions? Whether it’s for or against what I’ve considered getting or any other ideas for other breeds of chicken or other birds? I’m very excited! :D Thank you guys!

Well, good layers are barred rocks.
What type of chicken are looking for? Good layers? Pretty colorful ones? Etc...
On eBay, there is kinda cheep ayam cemani hatching eggs, but they aren’t really “cheep”.... if you want those chickens....

I definitely like the pretty colorful ones or anything unique. And something that lays smaller eggs so that she can hatch several. Seramas are interesting to me because they are so tiny :love and I’m also not looking to spend too much so maybe not Ayam Cemanis

Being a peafowl lover, I would do pea eggs.
I am a peafowl lover as well! I have two that one of my bigger hens hatched and then she refused to care for them so I hand raised them. They are so amazing and have so much personality! Mine are a bit of a hand full though. I like to be able to free range them and they wander to neighbor’s houses and are obsessed with sitting/scratching/pooping on cars! So I was thinking I’d hatch something a little easier this time :lau

Seramas are definitely a small cute and awesome breed. I love how they stand!:clap
Maybe you could get some cross breeds from a personal breeder, for some pretty hens, I know I have lots of crossbreeds and they turned out to be beautiful!
Like this one, her name is Daisy:

I'd try porcelain or jap bantams or my face pekin eggs
These breeds are all unique and have very friendly personalities except the jap they can be a bit more skittish
