Hi all,

We decided to get chickens this year after moving into a *new house with a big enough yard. I built a coop sized for about 8 chickens and bought a variety of a dozen chicks assuming that we would end up with some roosters. They are about 12-14 weeks old and I haven't heard a crow yet... I should have written down the breeds when I bought them but figured I would remember, yep, I've forgotten some of them.

I was hoping that you all could help identify and sex them. Sorry about some of the pictures, I tried to get them to hold still but...

Chicken #1:
I have 2 of these and I can't tell them apart other than one is a little friendlier than the other. They are both definitely the friendliest and the largest of the bunch. They have feathered feet but couldn't find a similar looking chicken by google search. Brahma?

Chicken #2:
#1's doppelganger:

Chicken #3:
Pretty sure it is a Barred Rock? Any guesses on the sex?

Chicken #4
Also standing behind #3 in the previous picture. I think it is an ameraucana? Any guesses on the sex? Three of our chickens are a week or two younger than the rest after replacing a couple that we lost. This is one of the younger chickens.

Chicken #5:
We have three of these, I think they are Buff Orpingtons? This is another of the younger bunch.

Chicken #6:
Another Buff Orpington?

Chicken #7:
The last Buff Orpington. On second thought this may be the younger one, they are all pretty close to the same size now.

Chicken #8
Leghorn, I think?

Chicken #9:
No clue on the breed. We suspected that this one was a rooster since it was a chick because it was always more aggressive than the others. Maybe just the breed though? You can also see it's face in the picture of #5.

Chicken #10:
We have 2 of these, again I can't tell them apart and I'm not even sure that I got pictures of both... Not sure of the breed.

Chicken #11:
Doppelganger to 10.

Chicken #12:
No clue as to the breed. This is also one the the younger bunch. I can try to get a better picture if needed.

I appreciate any help!

Thanks!

From the pics... I think all pullets ... and the breed that you said are right like the barred rock and the buff rorps and the white leghorn and the americauna.....
The last pic is a Rhode Island red and the first tow are I think brahmas.... not sure about the 9#..... and the black ones are maybe black australop or jersey giants. ... but don't depend on me because never had any of those...

Could be Rhode Island Red, pullet

I see all females. Dark Brahma, barred rock, Easter egger, buff Orpington, white leghorn, not sure what that reddish pullet is, Australorp, and hatchery Rhode Island or production red.

I understand you'll need to get rid of some of them due to coop size, just wanted to say these breeds will give you a nice colored egg basket. Green/blue, white, cream, assorted shades of brown.

Thanks a lot everyone. What are the odds of picking all pullets?

The coop 36 sf and the run is twice that. They are out in the yard all day until they put themselves in for the night. Think it will be too tight with 12? I've read 3-4 sf per bird?

yeah very lucky with all pullets. number 9 really looks like a straight up mixed breed. could be a black sex link with extreme, extreme amount of brown- usually they are half brownish and half black or more black....
