While on a relaxing trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior last week, I took three books to read and somehow (?) ended up with five new books -- two from a locally owned bookstore, two from local "touristy" stores and one from a national park gift shop.
Of the ones I took with me, I read only "Surfacing" by Kathleen Jamie, which I bought because it was recommended by Delia Owens, whose "Where the Crawdads Sing" I stumbled across (and loved) before it was a movie. "Surfacing" refers to itself as "an incredible blend of memoir, cultural history and travelogue" and follows Jamie from Alaska to Scotland and places in between.
Due to my backlog of unread books, I am now deleting all incoming emails from bookoutlet.com, without even opening the always-tempting offers.
