What Have Your Free Range Chickens Tore Up ???

Because we have chickens, ducks, a pig, and dogs running around in the backyard with our chickens we haven't purposely planted anything for them to tear up. However there is zero grass within 7 feet of the back door. They also prefer to roost on the back steps right next to the door. So it's always an acrobatic feat to get outside and back in without bringing a pound of mud and chicken poop back inside on the bottom of your shoes.

LOL Ninja moves combined with the Matrix!!! That would be worth filming!

Ha ha! That aggravates my husband to no end. Ours get on the driveway, and of course, they poop there too. Yuck! It rains a lot though and washes it away on a regular basis. Since it's so hot now, they avoid concrete during the day. The poop is an unavoidable by-product of owning chickens!

My husband complains too, they get inside of garage. I get after them for that so they don't go in there often. I tell my husband he has to keep his shop closed up or they will go in. He said the whole time he was trying to paint they would not leave him alone. I told him try to pick them up, they will stay far away from ya then.

Here is a picture of the deck, the white is where they have pecked and pulled up the paint. Not sure how they were able to do that but they did. I just hope they don't become ill.

And speaking of poop, I knew like all animals poop a lot, but didn't think that it would be all over the front porch, back deck, the shop, everywhere! LOL when ya free range that's what ya deal with, so everyday I'm sweeping it off. Also, I didn't know they lose feathers all the time, little feathers everywhere! I thought they only lost feathers when they molt.
. My girls liked to get on my patio tables and chairs and leave messes behind. I bought a fake owl and put it on the table now they stay off it... Thinking about buying a couple for my deck.

I bought a fake owl to put on the edge of the deck overhang to deter House Finches from nesting in the gutter. They made their next nest right under the owl in the gutter! <sigh> Is it just me?

Yup Blooie it is just you. What better way to protect the nest than to have your own owl guard?
You are the one with the very rare kind of Brahma too lol.

(Not laughing at you, laughing with you.)

If the fake owls work to keep the chickens off of areas I don't want them on, then I'm buying some.

My jersey giants stole a bag of potato chips from my kids play house and dumped them all over the yard.....we let them eat them which most likely was a bad idea but it was funny so I had to let them!

That is funny! Mine see me go to the garden to pick cucumbers and squash that are ready for harvest, or are overripe. They get the overripe stuff that I toss aside for them. They go to where I toss it and patiently wait for the goodies to arrive! It's not just them either - my horses like the overripe cucumbers too and will come to the fence, so I toss a few their way too. The chickens DO stay out of my garden, which surprises me.
