Yep I would agree with Cochins, heres two of mine yelling at me to leave them alone lol My buff and white ones are broody also. Then again, I have 5 broodie Silkies too.

My EE is the best, I kept taking her eggs day after day till one day she was missing.I thought she was dead. So3 weeks later she shows up with babies. She had 10 but something happened to 3 of them she now has 7 but she learned her lesson. This morning I heard the screech of the hawk and panicked went running outside where she was standing in the middle of the yard. No Babies! I was devastated and then she calmly walks over to my husbands lawn tractor where all 7 of her babies are huddled underneath where she obviously told them to stay put. She clucked and they all came running out to her. So she had hidden them and then presented herself as a target.
She's such a good momma! She and the babies have been sleeping in the Harley shed and DH doesn't mind at all.He locks them up every night and lets them out in the morning before work.

My Standard Dark Conrish are excessively broody. I had two go broody and incubate a pile of shavings.

They are very good mothers as well. Mine never have shown any aggression towards me when they are on the nest. They make a purring noise when I mess with them, but that's about it.

I have a Buff Orpington brooding eggs now. I also have a Black Jersey Giant that hatched out some Serama eggs, and she is being a very good Mom to them.

I think she worries a lot about them. "Why are they so small? What did I do? Did I drink too much coffee when I was sitting on them? Will they ever leave the nest?"

She lets NO ONE get within two feet of them.

Brahmas! I've got three brahama hens, two are broody right now. I've gotten 5 clutches from my 3 brahmas. In the past year.

And one terrible clutch from my 5 buff orps.

She bite and growled and ugh.

My Brahmas are sweet as pie, and wonderful mothers.

I just got 3 Serama pullets and a roo, hoping for them to go broody.
None of my hens are "of age" yet, so I can't help with the broody stuff.
