What herbs do your chickens like most?

Mine LOVE garlic chives. When i first discovered this I had walked into the coop to lock them up and the coop smelled like someone had just pulled a roast chicken out of the oven. every one of them had guilty green beaks. The coop smelled fabulous! LOL

I free range and mine eat alot of plants here. Mostly plantian and clover. But right now anything with a yellow flower. They also love poke berries when they are ripe.

Actually, after I started planting more chard and other greens for them, they left my hosta alone to grow back. Mine don't bother the herbs too much. They graze on a lot of other things, including the different clovers, alfalfa, grasses, kale and whatever other greens I'm growing. I have an assortment of native plants growing in some of the areas. They like to delicately pick the seeds from the plantain when it has seed spikes on it. They jump up to pick berries.

I wouldn't feed too much regular sage or alliums. Sage has a toxic element in it that should only be a problem in large amounts. Alliums could potentially add an off flavor to eggs, if fed in large amounts. Other than that, any culinary herb would be fine. These would be herbs you find on the grocery store shelf, for seasoning. Some like chamomile, some don't. Parsley and cilantro are usually popular. Chervil. I used to give my rabbit an occasional unsprayed dandelion leaf or flower. He really liked the flowers.

I'd stay away from any medicinal herbs, unless you learn about them, to make sure you don't feed anything toxic or in toxic amounts.

In the winter I grow wheat grass and sprouts for them, too.

My rabbit loves parsley, cilantro, different varieties of basil, chocolate mint (smells just like mint chocolate!), and carrot/radish tops. My chickens (so far) wouldn't touch basil, and loved the carrot/radish tops.

I grow kale, strawberries, and parsley for my ladies. They also LOVE clover, they go nuts when they see me walking up because they know I'll sit down there and feed them clover
