What I thought was a Red Chantecler might be a Gold Star. :/

I got a chicken from my local feed store that was supposed to be a red chantecler and so we named her Claire. Then I was looking at another forum about Gold Stars, right here,

and she looks exactly like one of them! What happened? :/

Red Sex Links are made by the millions, especially for the commercial brown egg laying industry. There are many, many slightly different strains available. This mix is a hybrid or intentional mix designed so that as the chick hatches, the pullets are fuzzy brownish in color, while the cockerels (unneeded) are white/yellow.

Since it isn't a breed, but a mix, it can be called anything the hatcher wishes to call it. There are untold, made up names used to market them. Great layers, btw!!
