I've been toying with the idea of some Guinea's because of the "distances" they go to get the bugs vs the chickens ... but I've always talked myself out of it because of them typically being difficult to train to go back IN the coop at night ... So I was wondering - if I had a Chicken hatch some Guinea egg's would they be inclined to learn from the Momma chicken - the appropriateness of going in the coop before dark? ... I know my chickens have done a fine job of teaching my Call ducks when to go in and the Muscovies learned to go in because they get fed at night inside (very food motivated birds they are!) ...

Thoughts ?

Absolutely!! Chickens make the best guinea mama. Got some on the ground right now that are less than a week old. They will think they are chickens and do just like mama tells them. You hear, or read, stories about guinea mamas taking their brood through the wet grass and killing them from the wet cold. Mama hens pay much more attention to the needs of their keets and do a marvey job raising them.........Pop
