What if I don't actually wanna be something..:\

I'll be 58 in about a week, and I still haven't figured out what I want to be. In the meantime, I've been a farm hand, a sailor/ aircraft mechanic, a carpenter, concrete finisher, plumber, roofer, electrician, steel tier, tile setter, block mason, greenhouse builder, gardener, skydiver, and chicken rancher....Someday, it may come to me.

I graduated college in December and I'm still looking for full-time work, and if anyone asked me, "What do you want to be?" I would ask that person back, "Does it look like I have a choice?" I'm going to a job fair in 3 weeks and whatever job I get, I will take it, because this past summer I worked outdoors in 100+ deg. weather...

I suggest telling your dad what your long-term plans are. You might not have a specific job in mind but at least you are willing to work, and in my book that's

I do see why my dad wants me to write a paper about it..Haha, I guess I just can't think of anything I wanna do! I kinda want to go to college for Cosmetology, but I think he means like how are you gonna make a living rather than what I'm gonna be! lol I guess it's just questions I can't answer right now.. Thanks everyone for your input!! :)

I too wanted to move out of my parents' house ASAP when I was young.

But I went to a community college and got a degree first. It only took 2 years and then I was self-sufficient. Well worth it, IMO.

There are many many bills that come and it helps to have a marketable skill. Then later on I got my 4 year degree while working. Difficult but I really wanted out on my own and 4 years was such a long time to have to wait.

If you get into the right profession, you can even look for jobs around the country.

lol

It's not really your choice. If they want you out, then you're out. Maybe this is what your dad is preparing you for.

Syntax and verb agreement might be a good idea too, but if all you want is a "job" those skills might not be needed. When was the last time the buger flipper at the Grease Pit needed to use correct English?

This type of attitude, "I just want a job", might be what is wrong with the USA......................

Better to be something that brings in a salary you can live comfortably on than
be living from paycheck to paycheck with one missed payday putting you out on the street.

A minimum wage job won't do it.

Look into a career that interests you. Animals? Vet tech...........
