We have two geese that came from the same parents. They are brother and sister. Now they are paired up and the female is laying. If she starts to sit on the eggs, would the goslings be sterile? I seem to recall seeing a discussion about this on this forum, but I couldn't find it. The siblings came from two unrelated geese, one Toulouse and one Chinese Swan. Thanks!

Goslings that hatch from the pair shouldn't have unusual fertility issues. The risk of breeding closely-related animals is that genetic problems may be expressed due to the restricted gene pool...but it happens routinely and many of the offspring of related animals are perfectly normal. I'm thinking you may be wondering if the goslings would be "mules" - this thread may be helpful.

If you're a goose breeder introducing new, unrelated, genetic stock would be a good idea. 🙂
