I have called all the feed stores around my area and can't find any type of meat bird/broiler feed. Are there other alternatives? Do you start with a typical chick starter then move to something else?

I don't want medicated and I don't want ground up dead animals in my feed. I also don't want corn. What are my options? I'm getting my meat chicks in a week and need to have my stuff here and ready!!

What did you call it when you asked? Do you live near a TSC? Ask them what they have in a protein content of 20%+ Any feed mill that mixes feed should be able to get you whatever you need- look for the tall silo type buildings at the store.

What part of the country are you in? Do you have Southern States farm supply stores? If not, check the yellow pages for Feed, Grain, Farm Supplies. Some places do custom mixing, or you can buy 50 lb bags of what ever grains you want and mix it yourself. You'll have to calculate the protein content, you need 20%. Distillers grain I get is 25% protein, I use it to boost the protein content when they need it. It does contain corn, most mixed feed does.
