What if you can't keep a bandage on a duck's foot

I'm treating a duck for bumblefoot but now that she is feeling better, she is able to pull off her bandage. I've put her in the duck house with clean straw and some food and water. I can't get a bootie on her - I honestly don't see how anyone can with the booties that I bought. Can she heal without a bandage? I plan to let her out to have a little swim in the pool tonight and then clean the foot with antiseptic and apply polysporin then back in the house.

Wrapping duck feet is a bit of a process learning wise. I've found that using 1" vetwrap, starting off making a wrap or two right at the ankle then wrapping up and around in-between toes then across down and around the rest of the toes (think almost like a star pattern). It took me awhile to really figure it out. However, in the meantime take an old toothbrush and really scrub in the ointment for a good 2-3 minutes. It will help the ointment really penetrate and get inside when not wrapped.

Vet tape on its own, or with gauze? I could probably keep vet tape on

If you're having trouble keeping the bandage on with the gauze just skip it. The important thing is to keep the bumble well coated in ointment and clean. Just make sure to keep her somewhere well padded with bedding.

To keep a duck bootie on I have to cut a thin strip of vet wrap, the width of the top of the bootie, and long enough to wrap around the top of the bootie 2 times. The end of the vet wrap has to be at the back of the bootie. Then my little houdinis can't get them off.
