What if you don't know what type of quail eggs you have?

In a bit of a spontaneous moment I bought an incubator and some hatching egg last weekend. Well, I bought the eggs first then NEEDED and incubator (long story) anyhow, I bought quail eggs and now find out hatching time depends on the breed of quail. I'll put up an egg pic later to see if anyone can identify them.

Here's where things get really complicated and worrisome . . . I also bought bantam eggs and threw them in the incubator too. Now I find out it's not good to mix breeds like that

I am worried for my babies. How ever will I know when to stop turning them. BTW, how long for bantam eggs to hatch?

Sometimes being impulsive sucks.

What size and colour are the eggs? Incubation time ranges from 16 days upwards. Bantam eggs take 21 days.
I made the same mistake put 6 button quails and 6 silkie bantams in to hatch same time I ended up with 1 silkie egg and 2 quail eggs that were fertile one of the quails died so I have a silkie and a quail in the brooder together at the minute I've heard different reasons why they're not suitable to be kept with each other but these two are inseparable, be interested to see what other people say about it as i'm not sure what to do whether to split them up or let them carry on as they seem happy.

The eggs are pretty tiny and light brown with a lot of chocolate brown splotches. i will take a picture tomorrow. Can I ask why the quail and silkie should not be together? I'm curious.

Some things i've read say it's because of diseases chickens carry which can be fatal to quail and some others i've read say its because the chickens would injure the quails by pecking put my chick sits with the quail under its wing snuggled up all the time if i take one out the other one cries till i put it back so sweet seems a shame to break it up

Listen, I hatch everything together. I don't brood them together but I incubate everything together and have no problems. I have incubated duck and geese eggs with chicken and quail eggs. Guinea eggs with chicken eggs, I do staggered hatches as well.

I have pretty good hatch rates too. Right now I have 40 button quail eggs in with bantam and standard chicken eggs, guinea eggs and Call duck eggs. All are doing well.

Good luck!

Ok, so I candled the eggs last night which was easier with the bantam eggs that the quail I tell you. I see veining in three or four bantam eggs and nothing in the others. In the quail eggs I see light through some of them and not the others with no hope of seeing any veins. What should I see at seven days if there are babies in there?? Did I mention I have NEVER candled an egg before?
