What illnesses and diseases can humans transmit to baby chicks?

Im not sure if you're joking or not but I'm gonna assume good intent haha I do love to read but haven't really written much but its always been something that has interested me, but I've never really sat down and tried any kind of book or article writing! Would be fun to try though! My family always told me I never shut up growing up so I'm assuming that long windedness happens in my texting and social media stuff too 😂
I was not joking. I read a LOT of posts, daily, and I've maybe mentioned this to a total of three people over the years, you included. :) I think you have a knack with words!

I remember feeling like this when I discovered a literal rat’s nest in my chicken run. I actually sold my entire flock and moved the run, eradicated the rat nest and ever since then I am very careful to not leave anything out that entices rats.
Ugh I feel you there! I dont really have a rat problem where I live but DO have mice around alot and am worried a bit about that once the chicks go outside. Usually my logical brain wins out but my health anxiety brain just screams "plague rats!!☠️" lol

Wow thank you so much!! I take that as such a huge compliment! Everyone in these forums has been so nice since I joined the last couple days! I keep expecting the worst and getting to chat with such cool people instead!

We had such a bad problem with mice too, and didn't want to use poison as the chickens eat those things! We were buying those scent packets and when I went to buy more, the price had nearly doubled, so I made my own. I wrote an article explaining how to do it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/diy-mice-deterrent-pouches.79542/ They work!

Yes I can't do poison either because the mice get into the basement and my cats catch them and oh so lovingly like to drop them into my lap at night 😂 I have to catch them and put them back outside all the time and I just dont have the heart to do snap traps. I will 100% be checking your article out thank you!

@Debbie292d I agree, Echelon does write and communicate beautifully. How do we get her to do a member interview? She hasn't done one yet, I don't think?
I'm not sure, but from what I've seen, the member has been around for at least a year. However, @N F C should answer any of these interview questions, as she's in charge of those.

Here's the link to them if anyone wants to see: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/introducing-vip-member-interviews.905602/
