HELP ME!! I don't know if i should look at this as a good thing or a horrible thing! My two silkie hens have been laying in the box for 3 days and our orange silkie is laying on eggs (Is that bad during the winter?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?)
then the other has its head buried and its bum in the air! I checked the bum and nothing it is clean of everything! and there is nothing sticking out?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!!? WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!?!?!?!

I'm not sure what to tell you - I've just started raising 3 silkies - they are only 7 weeks old so I haven't any experience with broody hens. I guess having a broody in the winter makes for a challenge - but as long as she takes care of the chicks it should be okay. I would guess it would be better for you to put them in a brooder after they hatch, but maybe not - hopefuly someone with more experience can help.

I'm not sure about the other chick with it's butt up and head tucked - are you thinking it's ill? If so, maybe you want to post in the emergencies forum?
