What inspires you?

As a teacher, band director, and coach I am inspired by my students. There are many mornings I wake up and think this generation has lost their way, but after a good cup of coffee you remember those students who are making a difference.

I love being a band director and coach because you see the same kids for four or five years. You literally watch them grow up into adults. I enjoy watching the shy kid who can't kick the ball straight become the star forward or the goofy saxophone player turn into the drum major and lead the band in parade.

With all of the bad we see today in the world, it is good to know that there are some bright spots to look forward too. That's what gets us out of bed to do what needs to be done.

I'm glad I began this thread. It is inpiring to see how you guys have been inspired, and in many ways, inspire others in life and in this forum!

saw this and thought it would fit nicely in this thread.

“We do not stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

so get out there and have fun!

I'm inspired by all the awesome people who have shared their lives with me... There are even some people here, who I've never met in real life, who have inspired me to try something new or to improve my knowledge of something in some way.

I am completely and totally convinced that you can't spend time with someone without affecting their lives in some way -- and without them affecting your own.

So very true to both your entries, often we are in competition on the road, office, online and then you have ego. Its an interesting portion of our earth lives. I wish that people could look at the next person beside them, regardless to age, sex, size and color and enjoy the personality that has developed through experiences, woes and joys, and no judgement, giggles, teasing and bashing others.
I'm not talking about this site, just in general. Its human nature.
We have taught our children to not trust authority, yet, we forgot to teaching them respect. (not everyone!)

In the glorious '80's we were spoiled buying bigger better, now finding young people and ourselves fearing tomorrow, willing to steal and even kill, torture our grandmothers for kicks.
What these people forget is that it will come back to haunt you. When you steal, you should feel shame. When your grandmother is attacked for fifty cents, do you really want your own mother or grandmother treated this way?
Or the drive by shootings, that could have been your child, sibling or father.
Your actions in one day affect so many people, its like tossing a rock into the pond. You may not be able to see the place that the rock is, but the effects are the ripples that reach every shore.

You do not need to be religious to realize that by Doing Good, Doing Right and Helping without expecting, is a religion.

Inspire a child, one of the biggest investment you can make!
