what is a blow out

I was reading that sometime a hen can lay an egg to big and they have a blow out. Does that mean that the hen will die if it happens? In the event that it does, is there anything that can be done to save the hen?

I think a blow out would be a prolapse? If so, you have to get the prolapse back in and there is a chance of recovery, but often not so good if she keeps laying.

I would keep her in a dark place as not to recieve any light, and feed her scratch grains and grit, This will stop egg production and give her time to heal, after a week or so she should be ready to be put back to laying

My hen did not have a blow out, every day I read and do research on my hens so that I can learn as much as possible, and I came across a blow out, and just wanted to learn about it, in case it ever does happen.
