Well, honestly full-out free-range is considered my chickens paradise. But since that is not possible, I think that if you put treats like watermelon rind. Since that is not available you can try pumpkin seeds when pumpkins come into season. I haven't really tried that though so I don't know if it'll work. If possible, feed them more and visit them more. You may not want to do this, but chickens LOVE raw eggs
. If you want -every now and then <only as a treat>- buy some store-bought eggs and feed them to them. Just throw them in there and watch them go crazy over them. Give them cozy laying boxes and some nice hay, pine needle, shavings, ect. to scratch through and look for tasty bugs. My chickens enjoy either roosting up high or in the laying boxes (or on top of the laying boxes
) Oh, and chickens love grubs, worms, or almost anything buggy. They may be gross, but they love 'em. There are alot more tips, ideas where that came from but I think the thing that makes chickens happy the most is a chef who will serve them the best and finest delicacies (raw egg, grubs, leftovers, and - yummy birthday cake.) They look so happy with blue frosting on their beaks
